A Couple of Natural Skin Care Favorites

I have been on a buying moratorium. My apartment has been feeling cluttered lately, so I have been refining and organizing. Until I get myself sorted I stopped making purchases unless they were absolutely essential. Being in this state over the past few months has made me really appreciate pared down simplicity. Doing this has made my go-to skin care essentials really strand out. I notice that I gravitate toward the natural stuff.

Aztec Miracle Mud Mask

This is so easy to use and it is the best in clearing up impurities and giving my skin a glow. I always use it when I have that dull look that’s prevalent between season or lapses in exfoliating. I mix this clay mask with equal parts water or apple cider vinegar, plus the tiniest drop of whatever I need for whatever skin concerns I have going on at the moment. I usually use a little unscented morrocan oil. If you want a really good long mask session, I would mix up a tablespoon, but for lighter and multiple sessions (you can use this daily) I usually mix teaspoon for teaspoon with water or acv. It’s quicker to dry and easier and to remove.

Unscented Moroccan Argan Oil

I love this! Some people love the smell of Moroccan Argan Oil and it probably wouldn’t be so bad by itself. I’m particularly sensitive to scent and I don’t like to wear multiple layers of it, so this is such a great way to get all the benefits of argan oil without that being an issue. I use this for so many things. My hair, face, as a light oil for my hands, to drop into my face mask. It is the best! And so versatile. I also put a drop or two in my bath water to help moisturize without clogging my pores.

Cold-Pressed Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera gel has so many uses. It’s so good for your skin, and can be applied topically or taken internally depending on why you need it. I had been on the look out for a really good one that would allow me to get around not having a plant. I found this one that I love from Amara Beauty. I use it every day after I washing my face as kind of a toner/ moisturizer and let it dry/soak in before I use other products. One of my cats loves to lick a little off my hand, and since it’s also good for keeping them regular, I let her.

Lypo-spheric Vitamin C

I spent a few days in St. Pete with a friend and we had the opportunity to exchange beauty tips, face mask favorites, and our favorite supplements. I am a big believer in mega doses of Vitamin C in supplement form to head off colds and respiratory discomfort, but for general maintenance I typically take 1,000 mg a day. She turned me onto this one for it bioavailability and greater absorption by the body. It’s sort of a pain to take because it has to be taken in a little bit of liquid, and on an empty stomach. I always feel a little boost after I take it, and I believe its efficacy makes it worth the higher price tag. I mix with a little apple cider vinegar and water and take it as a shot along with 6 drops of this.
